We began our alpaca journey in 2015 with two pregnant females, Rolo and Mustard, plus two young females, Honey and Mivvi. In 2016 Mustard and Rolo gave birth to two boys, Biscuit and Liquorice. Since then we have increased our herd and we have been welcoming visitors to Misty Meadows since the spring of 2018.

In November we lost some of the grazing land that we used during the winter months, leaving us with no choice but to rehome the boys who formed our walking team. As a result of this we shall no longer be able to offer Alpaca Walking Experiences. We are very conscious that this is going to cause disappointment, particularly to our regular visitors, and we apologise for this. We should like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us over the last eight years; we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing our alpacas with all of you.

Rolo is the herd matriarch and, despite having a very gentle, laid back nature, is very much in charge! She is very fond of her sister, Honey.

Mivvi, with her wild topknot, is a shy alpaca. She loves looking after the youngsters.

Honey is a very friendly alpaca, always the first to greet visitors. She simply adores her daughters, Crumble and Nutkin, and her grandson, Marmaduke.

Peaches has a very sweet nature. She is extremely fond of her daughter, Tiffin, and her granddaughter, Rosie.

Rosie was born in June 2025. Tiffin is a lively alpaca and full of fun. In June 2025 she gave birth to Rosie, who she absolutely adores.

Crumble is Honey's daughter. In August 2025 she gave birth to Marmaduke and is proving to be an excellent mother to her little boy.

Nutkin is Honey's daughter. She was born in June 2024 and is not fully grown yet. She has a very sweet nature.

Rosie is Tiffin's daughter and she is so like her mother in both looks and personality.

Marmaduke is the youngest alpaca. He is devoted to his mother, Crumble, and is a very cute boy.

Alpacas are sheared once a year. The first quality fleece ( the blanket) from the back and sides of the alpaca is ideal for spinning. The fleeces are untreated and unwashed and may contain small bits of vegetation matter which may easily be removed in the carding/spinning processes.

We have whole fleeces available in white (Pancake and Mivvi), light (Peaches and Honey), fawn ( Jammie Dodger), several shades of brown (Crumble shown left, Biscuit and Frodo), black (Liquorice and Rolo) and Tiffin's unique 'smoky grey' colour shown above. Prices vary according to quality and weight. The fleeces may be viewed in Maxey by appointment, without commitment to buy.

We also have large bags of 'seconds' available for £8 a bag. This is the second best quality fleece taken from the alpacas' necks and is suitable for crafting, felting, etc.

Alpaca manure naturally contains the perfect balance of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and micro-nutrients. It is lower in organic matter content than the manure from other farmyard livestock, creating a higher concentration of nutrients as well as improving soil texture and its water-holding capacity. This lower organic content allows alpaca manure to be spread directly onto plants without burning them. Alpaca manure is not a hot manure and therefore does not need to be rotted before use.
Natural alpaca compost may be added to the soil at any time during the year and at any stage of growth and development. There are several ways to use the alpaca manure. You can dig it straight into the soil or you can place some manure into a bucket for a few days, stir occasionally and pour onto the plants or vegetables.
Misty Meadows Alpacas' manure is £3 per bag, 3 bags of alpaca manure for just £7 or 5 bags for £10; to be collected (we cannot deliver).
